Feb. 1 is celebrated around the world as World Read Aloud Day. The focus of the day is to celebrate the power of reading aloud and the importance of sharing stories.

As a part of this celebration, Rockville Elementary School hosted guest speakers to kick off their month of “We LOVE Reading.”

Each classroom or grade listened to special stories read by readers from the NCP staff and community. Readers included Mike Alsop, Steve Tyrrell, Kaitlynn Noerenberg, Carol Milligan, Cindy Hein, Sheila Rohr, Hannah Gentile, Colleen Engle, Kristin Bonomi, Jane Noel, Brad Bumgardner, Stephanie Studebaker and Ash Overpeck.

This reading event is celebrated in over 173 countries. World Read Aloud Day, created by the nonprofit organization LitWorld is all about bringing people together through stories.
